Job Description
The International Potato Center (CIP) under work package 3 of the Market Intelligence Initiative and the SweetGAINS project is conducting a research for development study aimed at promoting sustainable adoption of improved sweetpotato varieties by using behavioral interventions. The study targets sweetpotato farmers in Amuria district, Eastern Region of Uganda. This activity is aimed at conducting an endline household survey to assess the adoption of improved sweetpotato varieties among a random sample of households who have participated in the study since June 2023. The enumerator will collect data using tablets.
Duties and Responsibilities
Household Listing
Listing Households: Visiting assigned areas to list all households systematically.
Identification: Identifying and marking each household for enumeration, often using unique identifiers.
Data Collection
Data Recording: Accurately recording information about each household, including the number of residents, housing conditions, and other relevant demographic data.
Questionnaire Administration: Administering questionnaires or surveys to collect specific information from households.
Mapping
Geographical Mapping: Mapping the location of households and other landmarks using GPS devices or mapping software.
Sketch Maps: Drawing sketch maps of the area, indicating household locations and significant features.
Verification and Validation
Data Verification: Verifying the accuracy of the information collected and ensuring that all households in the assigned area are accounted for.
Cross-checking: Cross-checking collected data with existing records or other data sources.
Reporting and Documentation
Data Entry: Entering collected data into electronic systems or databases.
Reporting: Preparing and submitting daily or weekly reports on work completed, challenges encountered, and observations made during data collection.
Qualification, Experiences and Competencies
Minimum Education: Typically, a high school diploma or equivalent is required. Some projects may prefer candidates with a college degree or coursework in relevant fields such as geography, sociology, or statistics.
Technical Skills
Mapping Tools: Familiarity with GPS devices, mapping software, or other geographical information systems (GIS).
Data Entry: Basic computer skills and experience with data entry and data management software.
Analytical Skills
Attention to Detail: Ability to collect and record data accurately and thoroughly.
Analytical Thinking: Capability to analyze and verify data for consistency and accuracy.
Communication Skills
Interpersonal Skills: Good communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with community members and team members.
Language Proficiency: Proficiency in the local language(s) and, if applicable, the official language used for reporting.
