Job Description
Q-Sourcing Limited trading as Q-Sourcing Servtec is a manpower management solutions firm operating in the East African Region in the countries of Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, and South Sudan.
On behalf of our client Securex , we are looking for a competent, skilled, and experienced Transport Manager to work in Uganda.
Job Purpose: Responsible for running efficient workshops, Transport and ERT operations and any other that the management feels fit for the position with emphasis on customer satisfaction. This position carries its role to full fill the company objective in running the fleet to optimum levels with minimum costs. Managing the ERT team, drivers, and mechanics to achieve the required objectives for each position
Duties and Responsibilities
To manage Securex Workshop in order that it offers a service to Securex which is both competitively priced and of high standard.
To work on a harmonious basis with all managers, section heads and staff to organize regular visits/ call to all Zone/Branch Managers to ensure that proper service is provided.
Analyse monthly, and submit reports on fleet running costs to the financial controller
To ensure that Securex Business Policy is adhered to.
To ensure that all Securex vehicles are maintained/ repaired according to manufactures recommendations.
Assign responsibilities and duties to all workshop/Drivers/ERT staff as required in their JD
To assist and sort out all technical problems faced during service/repair of vehicles and ensure work performed is of high standard.
Hold WAR meetings within the department.
Analyze the performance of all employees under this position on a scheduled, regular basis.
Establish good working conditions through programs, availability of adequate tools and equipment, clean and comfortable premises, etc.
Plan, organize basic training.
Evaluation and distribution of appropriate specialized literature as well as technical and miscellaneous information.
Carry out programmes after approval from management, for the development of service and staff.
Establish and maintain an inventory of tools and equipment in the workshop. Checking of mechanics tools once every month against inventory.
With supervisors/mechanics regularly and thoroughly inspect all completed work to ensure quality control is working and customer satisfaction is maintained.
Carry out checks with respect to the justification and authorization of material requisitions.
Supervise the workshop activities in all sections, on the basis of daily, weekly and monthly controls. Control the balance of productive hours sold, and non-productive hours.
Analyze each months "come back" (repeat jobs), repair costs, maintenance costs and controllable expenses elements.
Setting good example by means of a neat outward appearance and organized work place
Special Responsibilities as assigned from time to time.
Facilities/Equipment:
Is to be the custodian of all the company assets under this position.
Is to carryout spot checks of operational equipment such as MRTs to ensure equipment is not be misused. These spot checks are to be on a weekly basis, all data is to be captured.
Is to highlight any shortages of equipment that are having an operational impact.
The Transport/workshop, ERT Manager will ensure all supporting equipment such as the workshop, tool kits etc. are fully serviceable and maintained.
Will work within the company Health and Safety polices, as well as highlighting were appropriate areas of improvements.
Budget:
Is to ensure the Transport/workshop ERT section is operating within its budget.
Quality Health and Safety Responsibilities:
Ensure your own safety and health and that of other persons who may be affected by your acts or omissions at the workplace (these other persons include fellow employees, clients, customers etc.)
Co-operate with the QHSE department in the discharge of health and safety requirements.
Wear or use any protective equipment or clothing provided by the company for the purpose of preventing risks to your safety and health.
Comply with the safety and health procedures, requirements and instructions given by the company for your own or any other person’s safety.
Qualification, Experiences and Competencies
A bachelor in a relevant field with a willingness to undergo a Masters.
Professional management qualification and a member of a recognized professional management governing body.
A basic accounting qualification or relevant proven exposure to budget management.
Working knowledge of multiple transport functions and transport driven technology solutions.
COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS.
An intermediate level of IT skills with a very good working knowledge of the range of MS Office packages and fleet management tools.
An ability to carry out scope of work and produce the relevant level of paperwork to support such schemes.
Strong management and leadership skills together with excellent communication, influencing, negotiating and engagement skills.
A very good knowledge of technology driven security solutions as well as a willingness to continually upgrade that knowledge.
Sound judgement and decision making skills, with a “hands on”, problem solving approach, able to remain calm under pressure and take control of incidents, pro-active and self-motivated.
Understanding financial practices such as cost control and budgeting, demonstrating financial acumen in all decision making.
Must have the highest level of integrity, vigilant and of sound judgement.
Experience of overseeing transport workshops and the transport procurement chain.
