About the Organization
PCAU started operating from the premises of Hospice Africa Uganda (HAU) and was managed by volunteers for over six years. In 2006, PCAU moved out of Hospice Africa Uganda with a seed fund of three hundred thousand shillings to carry out its activities.
Job Description
The job holder takes care of the office premises and carries out cleaning duties. He/she provides housekeeping services to maintain the premises of PCAU in a safe, sanitary, and tidy condition at all times.
Duties and Responsibilities
Cleaning Tasks:
Sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors.
Dusting and wiping down surfaces, including desks, chairs, and tables.
Cleaning windows, mirrors, and glass partitions.
Emptying trash bins and replacing liners.
Cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, including toilets, sinks, and mirrors.
Replenishing restroom supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper.
Maintenance Tasks:
Reporting any maintenance issues, such as broken fixtures or equipment, to the appropriate personnel.
Assisting with minor repairs or maintenance tasks if capable.
Office Organization:
Keeping common areas such as break rooms, kitchens, and conference rooms tidy.
Organizing and maintaining supply cabinets and storage areas.
Ensuring that office supplies such as paper, pens, and printer cartridges are stocked and organized.
Support Tasks:
Assisting with setting up for meetings or events, including arranging chairs and tables.
Helping with the distribution of mail or packages within the office.
Performing occasional errands, such as picking up supplies or delivering documents.
Health and Safety Compliance:
Following all health and safety guidelines, including proper handling and disposal of cleaning chemicals.
Using personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary.
Ensuring that all cleaning equipment is used safely and stored properly after use.
Miscellaneous Tasks:
Assisting other staff members with tasks as needed.
Providing support to the office manager or other administrative staff.
Ensuring that all areas of the office are presentable and professional for both employees and visitors.
Qualification, Experiences and Competencies
Should have a minimum of an O-level Certificate and any other higher qualification is a must.
Have at least 1 year’ experience as a cleaner or office assistant in an established organization.
Be flexible, assertive, and with excellent communication and organizational skills
A highly reliable and responsible person
Have integrity, diligence, and ability to work with minimal supervision
